Wedding Photography

Weddings are about people, relationships, connections.
Everything valuable or important about a wedding follows from that.
Every dollar spent is in honor of that.

My photographic approach celebrates that.

I prioritize meaningful photographs- meaningful to you and yours;
I consider future you and future generations when making your photos.

For most of your wedding I will discreetly and artfully photograph
unprompted, meaningful, naturally inspired moments and feelings- which means
your wedding day is available for being present with your favorite people

the best stuff in life!

Not just photos you weren’t posing in, these are photos you were LIVING in:

From what I’ve observed over 500 weddings, you can’t anticipate or plan for the greatest moments of your wedding. These fleeting, extra special feelings unfold uniquely for you, and won’t show up at anyone else’s wedding, because they relate to you, your people, and your ongoing stories. And they require a keen noticer to recognize and capture them impactfully:
Of course I’ll document the quintessential moments that are very common to weddings, and you might already have been thinking about your ceremonial first kiss, recessing up the aisle together joyfully, dancing with your parents, eating cake, partying with your long-time friends, and on. I’ll make these ‘standard’ wedding photos extra awesome for you:
By intent my approach holds space for your actual wedding experience to feel authentic and easy above all else. I’ll offer guidance through a mix of creative and classic portraiture so that your portraits as a couple will feel this same authenticity. I honor the individual way that individuals love and show up, and we’ll make beautiful portraits that have room for your real personalities and connection, in artful compositions that emphasize the best elements of your wedding atmosphere:
I appreciate all the important aspects of wedding photography. Beyond the candid moments and primary portraits, I understand this rare opportunity of all your family (however you define it) gathered at one time with easy and authentic feeling family photos. We can make a general plan for this together, and then I’ll lead us through the unexpected variations in lighting and weather that weddings tend to deliver. And don’t worry about “herding cats”, I’ll take care of your tribe with a warm and assertive approach that gets natural, good-looking family portraits accomplished efficiently:
People truly are what makes your wedding, and everyone present is important. You spend months creating an experience for your guests, and then you’ll be completely immersed in your own wedding moments with no way to witness how much they laughed and loved and got down while celebrating with you, and for you. A significant portion of my delivery to you is of your guests’ experience. You’d never otherwise know!
Throughout the day I’m looking for special details and little vignettes to relate the thoughtfulness, efforts, and coincidences that make your wedding visually rich:
And on the other end of the scale, I love “whole world” type photos that give a sense for what the entire scene felt like, if you could have zoomed out of the center of it for a moment:
Ultimately “my style” is covering your wedding thoroughly and beautifully and authentically. Left to my own intuition and creative devices, your wedding coverage flows like I’ve outlined above. I’m also completely open to every suggestion and request you have; I am in service to you as your wedding photographer.

I welcome incredibly diverse clients in every aspect, both how they look and love and also the unique shape their wedding takes. Sometimes that means a totally custom price quote is needed, or for ease I also offer common wedding photography packages which range from $4-10k. The most commonly booked package costs about $6,000. Every wedding commission includes a printed photo album, which I take extra special care to design so it will perfectly hold your wedding memory together.
